Very naive statement. All good newspapers have obituaries prepared and ready to run. They have done this for years. I'm sure the same with networks.

It was a terrible mistake. They corrected it and apologized immediately.

Whenever any other news outlet makes a mistake Trump doesn't like, he tweets out "fake news!" to discredit them, Fox News amplifies it and makes people mistrust other media. This has damaged our country, and so Fox deserves only scorn and derision for FAKE NEWS! If you don't like this approach to media, stop supporting the worst offenders.

Of course they have. The woman who wrote the NYT obituary of George H.W. Bush wrote it more than five years before she left the NYT to go to Politico.
