Apparently Cognat 135 with a low under 120 Verbal score will not be in pool

That may be the case. No she does not say that. So I email her now with my child name and scores to confirm is she is in pool or not

OP - at our school the AART didn't seem to have anything to do with sending out the letters. You may want to ask at the front office instead.

Also - this is same PP^^ - I don't see any harm in you parent referring. It'll take you a few minutes and be a bit of a hassle but think of it this way... some years the scores come back right around or after the deadline so in a year like that you may have had to refer anyhow not knowing if DD was going to be in the pool...

OP, I would call the AAP central office and ask. I think they have screwed up some of the in-pool letters this year.

NNAT 122
Verbal 113
Quantitative 135
Nonverbal 137
Composite 135

Side note. So I ask her one example of Verbal question.
She told me there is picture someone running, someone with a bicycle, someone pushing a wagon and something else I forgot
She asked me which one I would choose to be the fastest.
I chose the one with the bicycle

She said she chose the one running since the one with the bicycle is not on it so it may be broken (and he has to walk it)

LOL I bet she got that one wrong but she is the type like to over-complicate a simple question / answer

Maybe I should put this in my referral example

All of your child's scores are higher than my child's, who is in the pool. Bizarre. Its like the post office lost a bin of letters.

The weird thing is some people got both the score and the letter in the same envelope, and some people got separate envelopes. If it was coming from the central office, wouldn't it have been the same format for everyone?

At our school, the front office of the school put the score sheets and letters together, labeled the envelopes, and then took them to a central mailing facility to post. Sounds like it wasn't the same everywhere.

This seems like a good idea.

OP here

I got an update from our school VP

It is an oversight that the letter is not in the same envelope with the Cognat score.
So the AART helps us out by checking with the office and they send us a digital copy of the letter.

DD is in pool.

Thank you for all the feedbacks. Love DCUM.

Our in pool letter is signed by the school principal. But I don’t think she is the one decided who is in the pool. So who is the one decide who is in the pool? The committee? FCPS?

As I understand, the letter is print and sent from the base school. Hence the OP get her digital letter

Some schools will put the letter into the COgnat score envelope and send
Some will send separately

This way will make mistake happen.

I am not sure why don't they just put the scores and the pool or not in SIS system.

We got two separate letters (scores in one and pool notification in the other) and they were both signed by the Assistant Principal.

I don't get why SIS isn't used to report all the test scores. I checked my first graders and there are no test scores, even though there have been computer based reading and math assessments and the NNAT. I see people reporting on their child's DRA scores and I have no idea how to find that. Do I need to ask his teacher because it is not on SIS?

There are parents who would like this type of information in order to make informed decisions about a variety of topics, not just AAP.

Most of that is not on SIS. The DRA scores come home from the teacher or you can request them. The NNAT and Cogat scores are mailed or come home from the school.

I understand that they are not on SIS, I think that they should be on SIS. I had no idea about DRA scores until I looked at the Scholastic Books flyers that come home and wondered how anyone would have that information. My DS teacher did not send it home so I would have to request it.

I fail to understand why the county has a system for reporting test scores that they are no using. Why do different schools have different processes for sending out NNAT and CogAT results when they have s system that they could easily use. All of these tests are taken on a computer so the scores should be easy enough to input into the SIS system. There are areas in SIS that include links to additional information so it wouldn't be hard to include a link to the letter that explains how to read the results for the test.

It doesn't make sense to me. That is all.

Confirmed with our AAP - cut off was 132 on NNAT or 132 on section of the Cogat. You donot need a composite of 132.
