Suspect UTI - anything to before jumping to the vet...

Save $ on the diagnostic end, not the treatment. Get a pack of UTI testing strips and keep them on hand. If the strip shows probable UTI, get to the vet ASAP. Since you’re not sure now, go to the vet.

Do not do this. Animals often get urinary crystals with a UTI and those have to be examined under a microscope. And they dont always get Nitrate positive bacteria that are detected by the home test kit.
