She should hire movers and a truck. After a certain age, moving furniture or helping people move is a hard no.
Is your mother impulsive? Given to big gestures, emotional or otherwise?

My sister is the queen of this and I do not allow her to give gifts. She thinks she in entitled to the moon if she gives you some expensive gift you don't want. If you actually like it then all the more favors you owe. She is incredibly manipulative and narcissistic though.
