Verbal abuse? I occasionally suffered from it, but was not traumatized by it. Parental prejudices, narrow-mindedness and the insane consequences of ADHD and extreme anxiety? I am damaged for life. |
| I think different people may consider different things to be verbal abuse. Can we have some examples? |

Dad was verbally abusive and mom was emotionally abusive. Huge effects. A year of intense therapy (including emdr) was what I needed. The timing happened to come around the time my oldest child was approaching the age I was when significant trauma took place.
One thing that may help if you are struggling with whether this is worth pursuing — research Adverse Childhood Experiences and look up your ACE score. If it’s low you should still pursue it. If it’s at their significant threshold or higher you really MUST pursue it. |
14:30 here. Thanks for posting the info on ACE. I scored a 7. First family suicide didn't occur until I was 20 so that question was a 'no'. I am overweight but I've been lucky to have avoided the other negative outcomes - not that was easy. I know that, statistically, I'm an anomaly. I've worked really hard to make sure my kids have the childhood all kids deserve. |

No. They never leave permanent or long term damage on me. However the short term Effects makes me depress and stress out for a few days.
But I am very empowered individuals. I refused to let anyone judge me. |
