best dcps middle school to WORK at?

I'd look at Francis Stevens -- it's part of a K-8, but the principal is also the principal of the School Without Walls HS. Teachers seem to love him, and say he's very supportive. Also, based on what I've heard, you have some consultation/coordination with the HS teachers.

I don’t think they released final, but the survey going around few months ago had the following names to vote for:

Ida B. Wells

Georgiana Simpson

Lawrence Graves

Alma Woodsey Thomas

America Libertad Calderón

James Baldwin

Josephine Dorothy Butler

Paul A. Quander, Jr.

John Wesley Cromwell and Otelia Cromwell

Mary Ann Shadd

That being said- look for a school with veterans (not vetern admin, that does note exist). In the interview process ask to see their insight data.

Agree with this. Taught in Newark. DC is a whole different kind of dysfunction! There is no way to prepare for it besides to be flexible, go with the flow, realize it's not personal, and have a sense of humor. Not saying you won't do well, just that you will likely be shocked by what actually happens here!
