I have AMH of 0.4, FSH of 15 and AFC 5-10. I'm 34. I got pregnant on my second IUI and my RE did not seem to think IUI was hopeless though she did give me a 10% chance of getting pregnant each time. I will say we were told sperm count was good for each IUI.

Maybe the nurse was saying that because of the sperm count, but I don't know what is good and bad in terms of sperm count for IUI.

i had multiple kids through IUI while IVF didn't work for me. your nurse was an asshole to tell you this during the procedure. also, she has no clue what your odds are - nobody does.

According to ASRM and others, IUI does not increase one's chances of conception anymore than having sex.

If you'd actually read what ASRM says you'd know that IUI combined with gonadotropins (ie injectables) and other similar drugs is known to increase chances of conception. There is less evidence in favor of unmedicated IUI cycles, but that's not the subject of this thread.

Long story short, I was told my chances of natural conception were <1% at age 30 and I had a successful natural conception 2 months later. Point being, PP is right: nobody truly knows what your chances are.

If you are remotely interested in NC-IVF, then definitely get a second opinion from Dominion. From what I've gathered, they do more cycles of NC-IVF than pretty much any other clinic in the country. I switched from GW to Dominion (specifically, Dr. Gordon) earlier this year. At GW I worked with two different nurses, both of whom stressed me out to the point of tears on multiple occasions because of the way they communicated with me (or didn't communicate at all, some days). FWIW, the practice model Dominion uses - from they way they run morning monitoring, to how they have patients interact w/ all the nurses instead of having one specifically assigned, to usually having your own RE do your procedures - was a much better fit for me. Me too. Almost 3 years of trying, and 6 IUIs all failed. I got pregnant naturally while saving money for our first IVF cycle. I was 33.

PP here. Yes, my first IUI with Dr. Gordon at Dominion worked. We never actually made it to the point of trying IUI at GW. I am a recurrent pregnancy loss patient; we had started at GW for infertility testing and then we conceived multiple times but they all ended as chemical pregnancies or miscarriages. At what turned out to be the last appointment we had with my RE there, I was ready to ask about moving on to IUIs after we completed the RPL testing she was recommending. However, before I could bring it up, she told us she wanted us to just keep trying on our own. She never told us how much longer she wanted us to keep trying on our own, and I was already 38. After the RPL tests she ordered came back normal, and she still failed to offer us a more defined plan to move forward, I decided it was time to seek second opinions.

OP here. IUI+ Injectables cycle failed. So torn about what to do next.

Do it again?

Say screw it and just do IVF no matter how few follies I have?

Go big and do multiple retrievals and PGS test?

i regret every dollar I spent on IUIs. I’d do IVF in your situation and ask your RE what an aggressive approach would be
