Dr. Grant-Anamelechi in New Carrollton was amazing with my SNs DD. She also has privileges at Children’s in case you need any procedures or more invasive work done, Che can do it under general anesthesia there. (My DD did have that and it was a smooth, positive experience.)

My NT son used to be terrible at the dentist -- panicking, kicking, screaming, etc. When he was 3 (his first dental visit) I had to physically restrain him to get even the most cursory dental exam done. For the second visit (at age 4) we went to Dr. Kuwabara, who was nice enough, but the visit didn't go much better. So I don't believe Dr. Kuwabara has a universal magic touch. FWIW, we now go to the Mary's Center at Fort Totten and both my NT kid (now 5) and younger ASD kid have had fairly decent, non traumatic visits there. https://www.maryscenter.org/content/100-gallatin-street-ne-washington-dc-20011 I don't think they have any procedures just for SN kids, but the dentists and hygienists are very kind and gentle, which helped both my kids. |
No, he doesn't, he's just willing to work with the kids unlike other dentists. We have good experiences with him (except the staff rarely answer the phone). I'd have to hold my son for the first few years and he'd do a very quick cleaning and check till one day my kid decided to cooperate and no issues since. |
