I would be down for that -Fairfax County resident |
This. Might be time to move to one of the Dakotas |
| Breaking away as a land mass? Like pushing off with a giant oar? I'm not sure what you envision here. |
where will you flee once the dc area becomes unlivable due to Democrat policies? Ever notice conservatives don’t flee conservative areas like democrats flee California and newyork ? Then they ruin the states they move to |
Chevy Chase and Bethesda would sign up to be part of upper NW. |

So you're sick and tired of living "under the thumb" of governmental units that redistribute earned wealth to you? You're sick and tired of your farm subsidies? You're sick and tired of receiving Social Security and Medicare for which you don't pay anywhere near your fair share? You're sick and tired of receiving fake farmstead local tax breaks?
You wanna go it alone? OK! Bye! Go! There will be no state or local opposition at all. |
|
Do you know what happens to places with low taxes? Go look at Kansas and Oklahoma.
For one, if you are in Maryland, how will you fund the state-mandated minimum per-student cost without significant taxes? |
+420 Legal weed in nova! There would be other benefits, yes. |
| Here’s an idea for you: MOVE! |
| So, answer me this. Why do conservatives like George Will, John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, and Dan Snyder live in MoCo? Kind of hippocritical to hate liberal policies and still live where they benefit from them. |
Is this why no one lives in California or New York? Ever notice that Conservative states are the poorest, most ill-educated, and most racist? |
so why do people flee California and NY? Ever looked at ny’s hate crime stats? LA’s? |
|
Claiming people "flee" certain states is disingenuous. You are using CA and NY as examples, states which combined population is nearly 60 million people. A huge number of those people will spread out over the course of their lives to pursue education and jobs wherever they may be. These are upwardly mobile people, unlike many from more rural states who sit around and complain that the jobs don't come to them.
Both NY and CA are growing by the way, CA added over 2 million new residents between 2010-2017. NY has added over 500,000 residents during that time, and most of that growth is in the "liberal" areas of the state (e.g. NYC). It is states like West Virginia which are being fled, with a population decline of 10% since 1950, and 2.5% in the last 7 years alone. |
| California replenishes it’s lost population with undocumented people. Same with NY |
Yet CA is the 6th biggest economy *in the world*. CA is doing fine. WV, oth, not so much. Educated people flee red areas to blue areas, even if the state is red, like TX, they usually flee to places like Austin or Dallas, which are solidly blue. Farm country in red states also have plenty of undocumented people. Just ask the R farmers. Why doesn't OP move? Serious question. Oh, is your job here, as in "most of the good paying jobs are in blue areas"? |
