Snow on Thursday?

NBC says just "wintry mix" in the burbs and nothing in the city.

My weather apps both say rain, one saying a little sleet mixed in early. It is way to warm for snow, its been in the 40's and 50's! Only a few nights have gone below freezing. There is no way we are getting 6 inches...

Global cooling. I can't remember snow before thanksgiving.

I don't find him to be reliable at all. He's not even a meteorologist. He just regurgitates model data and doesn't actually know how to interpret any of it. I frequently find that he hypes up storms that turn out to be nothing.

What does being a meteorologist have to do with whether you can analyze data and make a prediction based on that available data? Does the certificate from the AMS magically convey that ability?

The best weather forecaster I ever knew was a former B-52 bomber navigator who retired and became a storm chaser. He wasn't a meteorologist, either, but he was practically supernatural with his ability to interpret and predict weather.

Getting hung up on certificates is a hallmark of someone who doesn't have a clue WTF they're talking about.

I see nothing saying this.

Oh well if you don't see it it didn't happen.

He posted it this morning.

I don't know about here, but I grew up thinking snow before thanksgiving was normal in southeastern Michigan back in the late 70s/early 80s. We even had snow for Halloween one year. Then, for what seemed like forever, we didn't have snow for Thanksgiving. Change happens.

6 inches WAY WEST of DC. If you look at the map he posted claiming this 6 inches, the mountains are red. Inside the Beltway has a less than 5% chance. It's ridiculous to claim that 100 mile area is "the DC area".

Jay lives in loudoun and that's where his forecast focuses. He says 6 for Leesburg area, where he lives, is possible on this model. Not 100 miles away.

Thanks OP, you jinxed it and now we're not going to get a single flake.

I figure close-in Montgomery County will get the usual gloppy wintry mix, the evil offspring of cold rain and snow. Weather.com is showing 3-5 inches in this area.

Hmmm....it shows 38 degrees Thursday from my weather app---Arlington.
