Massanutten or Great Wolf Lodge?

Anonymous
I thought the water park at GWL was a little better--bigger and more varied. But, my kids at ages 6 and 8 liked them both equally. We did the tubing at Massanutten and liked that a lot. The place is not *that* big so the driving to different places was not an issue for us at all. We stayed at Woodstone Meadows and would definitely stay there again. If you want more than a water park, go with Massanutten.

Trying to refresh this thread and get an updated prospective.
Particularly on Massanutten vrs Baltimore GWL in December or January. So, no outdoor water park.
But maybe ice skating or tubing to cover that part. Thinking 1-2 nights mini kids bday get away. Possibly grandparents in tow.

I stayed at the Summit townhouses there. They are condos on site that they rent.

We’ve also liked Summit. Very convenient.

We had lots of fun at both Massanutten and GWL. I definitely found Massanutten much more relaxing. I think it was the outdoor opportunities. Also, even though the waterpark at Massanutten is definitely dated, it has more features and the kids had more to do. Also, better restaurants at Massanutten plus we had a kitchen. The food at GWL was truly terrible.

We liked Massanutten. The only thing I was say is the driving like you mentioned, in contrast to GWL. I believe we also stayed at the Summit townhouses.

PP here. Don’t listen to me for an updated perspective!!! I think I was quoting myself from 2018!!! Omg. The only thing different is that I’ve been to GWL now.

Massanutten WaterPark:
This place has freezing cold water and no soap to wash hands after toilet. Imagine people don’t wash hands and enter the water park? Also you will be charged observer fee to watch your kids or don’t watch them and you won’t be allowed in so I actually saved a 4 year old girls who was stuck in lazy fever barely holding to a rock and there was only one lifeguard for the entire lazy river. So so concerning. Can a hygiene department and more please check this place?

Both are awful places to vacation. I’ve been to both and won’t do either ever again. Waste of time and money.

How did you manage to spend that much money at a GWL?! They have promo codes, you know.
