Federal prosecutors have gathered evidence that Trump worked with his friend and media executive David Pecker to use the National Enquirer tabloid to buy the silence of adult-film star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal, according to interviews the Journal had with three dozen people with knowledge of the transactions.

Trump was allegedly involved in nearly every step of the process to prevent Daniels and McDougal from publicizing their stories and worked with his longtime lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen to coordinate the deals.

It never occurred to me that he didn't. Cohen always followed Trump's orders.

+1. Part of the WSJ reporting is there was an 80-page indictment ready to go against Cohen when he pled. That is a very, very large document. With lots of crimes and co-conspirators.

NP. I don’t see much chance that trump gets charged with federal crimes while he is still in the WH. He controls the Justice Department and the US Attorneys, so he will block any charges he doesn’t like. His recent removal of Sessions is designed to install someone who will protect him from charges.

But once he’s out of office in 2020, he is fair fame. The statute of limitations will not have expired, and he won’t have protectors anymore at DOJ. We just have to be patient, and vote.

My three worries are ...
1. His people will bury the evidence in the meantime, making investigation harder.
2. Democrats will lose focus on his crimes after the 2020 election, and will be too afraid to risk political blowback that might come from criminal charges.
3. Trump will issue blanket parsons for himself and his family.

I really want him to go to jail. He is a crook.

Yes, but he cannot be charged and GOP is not interested to check him - house is our only hope.

He can be charged. There is a DOJ policy that he not be charged. But states don’t have to follow the DOJ policy. Then off to the SC we go.

It can be argued that this action defrauded the American public as it impacted the considerations around vote choices prior to the election and thus, the action of a felony causes the occupants of the White House, Trump and Pence, to be illegitimate.
