| It’s in Ohio. |
OP here. Thanks for the thoughtful answer. Our in-state is Maryland which is comparable to OSU academically. But our daughter doesn’t love it and based on what we’ve heard from kids with comparable stats we think she might qualify for enough aid to make it similar in cost. Plus we really think she’d benefit from going away. College Park is quite close and we worry that she’d come home at the first sign of struggle. |
You don’t miss much. |
| It’s a good school if you like 500 students in your class and a high faculty to student ratio, |
|
Would your DD be able to get into Miami University?
I think of The OSU as a step below UMD for most programs. |
Doesn’t appear to be very different from other Big10 schools. |
I think so. 3.86u/4.6w/1400. |
| I find Michigan people more pretentious in terms of pretending their state school is higher regarded (outside of Ann Arbor) than it actually is. |
I’m not a Michigan alum, but will say it’s an absolutely excellent school. If you don’t realize that, you don’t know much about universities. |
LOL. I’m sure I know far more about national universities than you do. |
If your DD liked The OSU - and you think $ will come in to make it close to cost for Maryland - check out Miami University (In Oxford OH). My friends who went there were bright, down to earth, very successful professionally. They LOVED their undergrad experience - but in a healthy not all about football way. Another school to consider. |
| Thanks all. Not hearing anything beyond the standard big school liabilities. |
My husband has worked in higher ed for 15 years and has personal relationships with deans at Harvard, UNC, Michigan, etc. |
| The sun literally never shines there. |
It’s the shithole Midwest. Even the sun avoids that region of the US. |
