Julia Roberts’ horrible, horrible wig in Homecoming

Anonymous
It’s not bad, just a little thick. The occipital seems off, but she doesn’t have an obvious curve in her past movies, so I’m not sure why Op is annoyed.

I thought it was intentional to make her less glamorous

Same here--I assumed it was chosen because it fit with the character's background.

This. There were two wigs/hair dos--lighter hair for the earlier timeline darker for the later one.

It's easier to keep continuity with a wig--if you ever saw the crappy p&p version with Keira knightly--her hair is the exact same in every scene (except the ball).

Yikes, that looks like a thicker version of my current and real hairstyle - now I feel like people may be trashing me behind my back!

I agree--it's pretty bad. I wonder why they went with it...it's so off putting!

Op here. That is actually a really, really good picture of this wig. In the actual show it is just incredibly and obviously unnatural. I have no idea why they took this route. I am not one of the picky ladies on the beauty forum and I almost NEVER notice actual wigs. I have a coworker who occasionally wears a wig and they should have hired her to help in this show because she does a much better job.

The music in the show is distracting too. Believe it or not I listened to the podcast and I liked the show anyway and will probably watch the second season.

I had to resurrect this thread. I just finished watching Homecoming. DH (who knows nothing about fashion or wigs or makeup and never remarks on looks) came into the room as I was watching and immediately said "woah! Why is Julia Roberts wearing that wig on her head?" ha!

So if my DH thought it was a wig, 99% of viewers did too.

Did anybody else think Julia Roberts was miscast? Wig or no wig, I thought she was way too old to play Heidi.

Julia apparently had a rather complex relationship with her younger sister. It seems that her younger sister never felt validated or worthy in Julia's eyes and that really hurt. There appeared to be a certain amount of sibling rivalry there. Her sister overdosed in 2014 not long after she complained about Julia on social media. Julia apparently did attend and spoke at her funeral.

Reportedly, they grew up in a dysfunctional family.

I know a family where the sisters never got along. One sister was blatantly favored growing up, and the other sisters were blatantly not. Tables turned when they grew older, after the parents were gone, the once favored sister stole all of the family's money, and the family never recovered (or never had a chance). I can only imagine what happens when you throw a famous sibling into the mix - the resentment must have been palpable.

Agree.

She doesn't look wonderful, that's what I noticed. But I'm certainly not about to judge her. No posters on here look half as good at her age, I'll warrant

I'm so disappointed they canceled the podcast of this and switched it to a tv show. I was really enjoying the podcast version with Catherine Keener, Oscar Isaac, David Schwimmer and David Cross.

Interesting, because she also had a really horrible wig in Mother's Day that got a lot of attention:

The wig was appalling and all I could think about. Someone on my flight was watching so I could only see the movie without sound. I kept wondering why she looked like that. Terrible.
