So you don't like that Ficker pushed the term limits thing? It got something like 75% support by voters (including me). I think it was necessary. Blame the Democratic party, and also the taxpayer financing of candidates, for the cluster-f that was the democratic primary (also known as a clown car.. what a mess). |

Floreen because even though she is tied to developers, if she wins this race it will be because of areas like Bethesda that finally turned over the Silver Spring monopoly on county politics, power and policies. If enough people in Bethesda believe as you do she'll have to align with the base that put her in office. She'll direct developers toward other areas to retain power.
I agree with other posters that Ehrlich only has contempt for Bethesda and will only work toward improving TP and Silver Spring. He wont stop the over development of Bethesda because its his piggy bank for the projects he wants to do in the east. If Ehrlich wins, Bethesda is screwed. Agree with others that Ficker is too unstable and no idea what he would do. |
Different poster here. I am surprised so many people voted for term limits. I thought we were a more educated county than that. You now have gotten rid of the ability of truly good policy makers to stay longer. If you think they are bad, vote them out. But if they are good, keep them. The good ones are few and far between. Now, the people who will make policy for the county are the merit system staffers. Newbie politicians don’t have a clue how things really work. And you can’t vote merit staff out. You all just killed a little bit of your own voting power. |
I"m voting for Floreen. I live in DTSS and I also hate the new big buildings going up. I'm afraid any cute stores will evidentially be gone and we will end up looking like Bethesda...Boo Floreen is the better of the three choices, |
Lack of term limits is what got Montgomery County into such a bad state. Leggett wasn't good he was entrenched. He rode off name recognition, entrenched alignment with the unions, and a voter base more focused on national politics. This is also why Pat O'Neil has been on the BOE for so long. She is truly awful but entrenched. |
So you’ve nanny stated the voters. They can’t they no for themselves, so we will limit the damage the voters do... |

Why do people say Ficker is a nutjob? I'm looking at https://www.vote411.org/ballot#.UFoDEFHh-Sp
I don't see anything that indicates he's a nut. But maybe it's because I've only lived here or five years. |
This makes zero sense. If you hate the big buildings going up, why would you vote for someone who wants to build more of them? Elrich wa the one who voted against bringing a mega mall to DTSS. |
Erlich votes against things that create jobs and grow the tax base, right. Look, we are in for some hard times. I don’t trust an inflammatory left winger or a nut job right winger in charge of the county. |
Um, what cute stores in DTSS? Michaels? DSW? Ulta?? |
Wrong. He votes against things that bring in those big buildings that are irresponsible and have no plan for accompanying infrastructure. He vot s for things like small business incubators and repealing outdated regulations. He is NOT an inflammatory left winger. Stop believing the pathetic and desperate propaganda from the select group that has a vested interest in unregulated development. The Washington Post editorial board and GreaterGreaterWashington are mouthpieces for Fred Hiatt, David Alpert and his protege Dan Reed who want the three or four largest real estate developers to make higher profits. They do not care about small businesses. All of this about Elrich being this scary job killer is propaganda. |
Right, the WaPo ed board is captive to big business?!?! Thanks for joining DCUM Marc. |
I live right in/near downtown Bethesda and it's completely wrong that Elrich has contempt for Bethesda. (NOTE Ehrlich was the republican governor of MD, Elrich is the democrat running for MoCo executive-- if you can't even get that right how is anyone supposed to believe you know what you are talking about?) Elrich has been to our community meetings and talked about how he wants to plan for a county that works for people living here now, which is why he supports staging development so that roads and schools aren't afterthoughts. Floreen just flat out refused to come talk to us, and never answered my emails (although she did put me on her email list-- thanks, Nancy). If you want more development then go ahead and vote for Floreen, but saying that Floreen will manage development in downtown Bethesda better than Elrich is like Martha McSally saying she lead the fight to protect people with preexisting conditions. |
Speaking of propaganda.... |
| Fluorine loves developer money. Unless you want a 15 story building in your subdivision you may want to vote Elrich. |
