Do you lol at PDA too?

Sure I will, it’s just as ridiculous.

PDA has been PDA for 20 years. The "Development Academy" always referred to its stated mission of developing players in an academy model. This is not an uncommon name.

VDA uses the name originally as an affiliation with the DA but also as stating that they are a development academy through their multi club partnerships.

Redundant. A youth club that’s trying to, wait for it, develop players?!?! You don’t say.

VDA was awarded the DA on the boys side before the GDA existed. VDA is still a boys DA. You don't like the name, big deal.

VDA actually played GDA last year. This year is the first year that VDA is in ECNL on the girls side.

On the girls side at least, there are only two reasons kids play for VDA:

1. The parents are too lazy to drive to a better program, or
2. The kids are not good enough for a better program.

Or in honor of this week's PSAT: VDA is to elite travel soccer as ODSL is to travel soccer; you get to say you're doing it, but you're really not.

What are the issues with VDA? There does seem to be a lot of negativity towards the program on both the boys and girls sides, but you would think a partnership of 3 good (to very good) clubs would give them a really strong talent base to work with...but it does seem that a lot of players end up moving to BRYC, Arlington, Loudoun, etc.

I think they’ve lost more than one.

I believe one person is looking only at league play while another is also looking at tournaments. They did indeed go 1-2 at the Discovery Cup last weekend.

Their games against Wilmington (8-1 win) and NCFC (1-3 loss) were not in Virginia.

Thank you. You hit the nail on the head.

The '06s are a very good team, as viewed in the field in person. They have lots of technically sound players, with good speed, field awareness, and tactical ability. So what that they went 1-2 in the tournament. 4-1 in the MA conference isn't too shabby.
