Drowning in dog fur

Also, second the recommendation for a cordless Dyson - that thing makes picking up fur tumbleweeds so much easier.

+1 for both recs. Primitive breeds would especially benefit from fish based diet or an addition of salmon oil. I have really good results with Canidae Ancestral Fish.

- Brush and comb the dog twice a week. When he blows coat, daily.
- Dryer for dogs, used outside on the porch, blows away dander and extra hair. Weekly.
- Roomba every day or every other day.
- Sticky roller clothes and the couch.
- Allow dog on main floor, not basement or upstairs.
- Dust every week as usual, and occasionally vacuum by hand, it's the only way to get into corners and under furniture.

How old is your Samoyed? Mine is less than a year and we have almost no fur (and he is massive fluff) coming off of him. I shed my hair more than he does. We haven't experienced the spring blowout yet which I know will be a ton of fur. I bought all of these lint rollers and we haven't had to use them. Do they shed more as the get older? I do give him a quick comb out almost daily and only get very little fur in the comb. You are scaring me-ha!

This is the prime example of good genetics and appropriate diet. One dog sheds nonstop and another one sheds significantly less. I had a long haired husky and he shed twice a year. So, again, healthy dogs should not shed nonstop.

Ok, so what’s the magic dog food?

I’m the one that asked the question, not the one that responded about genetics/food.

He’s on Fromms kibble with a few tablespoons canned tripe mixed in. He has whole fat yogurt as a snack. No grain. As advised by Breeder. He is show quality but we don’t plan to show.

Me too, OP. My girl is a rat terrier mix rescue and sheds so so much. My boxer barely shed. I vacuum every other day.

Goldendoodles don't seem to shed. They have the reputation among allergy sufferers. They are also not inexpensive because of this reputation.

Kibble type really does make a difference. My girls are on taste of the wild pacific stream. Border collie mixes with moderate shedding. When I tried switching to costcos salmon food, the shedding exploded.
