| I think the whole preachy thing is going to backfire for Jealous and Erlich both. |
|
I will vote against Hogan. Mainly because of two things - public schools and that he is republican. A vote for Hogan is a vote for Trump.
I trust that there is not much harm that Jealous can do if elected, though not a fan at all. |
| What do people have against progressives? |
I have nothing against progressives. I want to see some balance in state and local government (and federal too). |
DP. This is what I meant above. Both parties have gotten so extreme that neither can recognize a moderate any more. You, PP, are so devoted to party, you no longer know or care what they stand for, only that they are a member of your party. And you fall back on the philosophy that if you aren't one of *US* then you're one of *THEM*. The point is that we need to find a way back to the middle. I find that the rampant extremism on both sides is leading to this stalemate, do-nothing, problem that has been plaguing our national politics for over 20 years now (really since the 1994 mid-term elections). |
How is that true that a vote for Hogan is a vote for Trump? Hogan and Trump clearly have differing views on many issues and very different styles. Hogan has publicly broken with Trump on a number of issues. |
It’s not true. It’s a rhetorical device. In Congress, sure, you could make that case, since most Republicans vote in line with Trump. |
| The main problem with voting for Hogan is the redistributing. |
Redistricting? So the concern is Republican gerrymandering? I think Democrats have done that in Maryland quite a bit. (I am a Democrat.) |
|
I am an influencer in my community. I will ask people not to vote for Hogan. It is unfortunate that Jealous is our other choice but he is lesser evil.
|
It's what progressives have against ME... They want to ban guns that I own responsibly. They want to raise my taxes to pay for things I don't agree with. They are trying to redefine the concept of "hate" to describe anyone who opposes them. I'd be totally content to let progressives be progressives and not impose my beliefs on them in any way whatsoever , but they won't extend the same courtesy to me. |
You probably have far less influence than you think. |
I think that new word is just hysterical. |
Yeah, MD is heavily gerrymandered in the Dems favor. I guess reversing that would be bad because it would help Republicans in congress, but I'd rather see less gerrymandering all together and I don't think two wrongs make a right. Non-partisan redistricting would be the best in my mind. |
Sadly, Republicans are going to gerrymander every state they can. If Democrats don’t follow suit then Republicans get another decade of control even though they get fewer votes. |
