OP, did you read the new parent orientation materials and/or the handbook? It's all there.

I'm shocked that you would not know about the Cathedral garage.

Also suggest talking to other parents or the staff. It's sad that feel you have to ask questions on DCUM.

I hate Wisco Ave- commuters, GDS, Sidwell. Avoid at all costs.

I hate MD drivers and wish I could avoid them. Unfortunately they find their way onto every residential street in my neighborhood and seem to follow none of the applicable laws on those streets. And private school parents (and their teenage kids) are among the most entitled and obnoxious of the MD drivers. Which is easy to figure out because there seems to be some requirement that you have your BVR/GDS/SDS/SJC/GP/STA sticker on the rear of your SUV.

Funny... I share most of your sentiments except that for me it's always been VA drivers.

Car pool lines, particularly the afternoon ones are THE WORST.

Almost made us go to public school when we heard it was 20 mins to do a drop and 40 mins for pick-up. Thank goodness our nanny is patient are our kids are all at the same school finally.

Not all DCPS schools are within easy walking distance, honey. I don't know why you would presume that any of the PPs are liberals.

yeah, half our neighborhood drives all around to DC charter schools 2-5 miles away in rush hour. Good stuff.

If you get there at even 7:30-8 there are often spots along south road and you don’t need to go in garage. Early bird gets the worm! After 8 is crunch time. Wished we should have learned that lesson earlier!

I hate it when people don't read or exhaust the resources they've been given, but then complain, complain, complain.

Beauvoir's carpool is usually pretty smooth, and one of the better ones among the Big 3. Part of why it takes longer early in the year are new families and kids who aren't used to the drill. Yesterday, I saw a little girl in carpool who took 6 minutes to get out of the car. Yes, carpool can be a slog, but understand that children are the reason why, not disorganization.

Not OP but I am a new parent and we haven’t received a handbook yet because it’s being reviewed by the new HOS.

As a new parent I also have found drop off to be daunting and also I have been very surprised by the outrageous displays of wealth. Perhaps it is something I will get used to but I haven’t found it to be the most welcoming place from a parent standpoint. The teachers do a great job of helping but guidance as well as an extended hand from more seasoned parents would be helpful.
