I wasn't describing the users, I was describing the less than savory parts of the app. Some of us got that Facebook was a problem (about a million times more than putative 'Russian trolls') years ago. Nextdoor is quite so bad, but I don't think they've users' best interests at heart, not even close. |
She called me a liar on the Tenley Park list serve when I was complaining that she wouldn't let me join after three requests. She did finally sign me up. I do think the Chevy Chase list serve has the best contractor reps - Cleveland Park is pretty good too. |
| The Chevy Chase list serve moderator is an idiot. I hope she is reading this posting. If not, someone send her the link. |
| I assume this is Chevy Chase DC, right? I'm on a Chevy Chase MD listserv and the moderator is not a nutjob at all. |
|
I just moved into Chevy Chase and am surprised there isn’t a Facebook group. That’s where most of my neighbors in previous neighborhood posted...
Why not a Facebook group? |
| I'm in CCMD and use NextDoor as well as the BCC Community listserv (which is different from the BCC HS listserv.) Both serve whatever purpose I'd need. |
|
I was able to sign up for the CCDC listserv when we moved to the neighborhood, but it took a ridiculous amount of effort.
The woman who runs the listserv is basically an elderly version of the cretin who runs Popville. |

My favorite rule of the CCListserve is you can't criticize the moderator on the CC Listserve. So I criticized the moderator on another listserve and was promptly removed anyhow!
The moderator also frequently allows her allies to break the listserve rules (moderator is stridently anti development and pro historic preservation) while holding up posts from anyone she disagrees with on minor technicalities. |
Can you please explain how I can get on the CMMD list serv? I’m on the Chevy Chase DC one but I live on the Maryland side and would rather get more info on Md related stuff. And yes the CCDC moderator has made me rewrite my posts too. |
| The moderator of this listserve once substantively re-wrote a post I had submitted and posted it on the listserve without advising me she had re-written it or adding a preface that the post had been edited. |
There's a couple of different listservs depending on your area-there's one for BCC, one for the town of Somerset and one for Chevy Chase West. For the latter two, an existing member has to verify that you live in the catchment zone. |
She's the worst, with her pathetic little fiefdom. |
| My favorite is, usually around the New year, when all her plebes who are pro-cats and anti-development, heap on the praise with their endless posts about how great she is and gush how they couldn't function without her. |
I really don't get why you would need a moderator to edit posts actively on a non-anonymous board of neighbors. My maryland chevy chase listserv has maybe one or two posts a year that the moderator scolds about- and reminds people of the rules of the forum (ex: this year it was people posting too aggressively to boost a local candidate). |
I'm in CC West -- where do I find that list? |
