| I've always tested before beta, both for IUIs and IVF/FETs. I don't like getting the call with bad news while I'm at work. |
| I never tested and always waited for the call. Oddly I always got my negative beta results over Voicemail and both of my positives were calls I answered. |
| Update op?! |
Thanks all. I tested last night and got the call today- negative. We’re pretty disappointed. any success stories? I don’t know how we’ll ever afford IVF if IUI doesn’t work.

Sorry, OP Let yourself have today to be sad, and then remember that the next cycle is a fresh start.
Stay at it - our 3rd IUI worked. Also, I know several people who had success with IUI and all of them took a few cycles (a good friend had success on her 5th - she was ready to pull her hair out by then but now has a beautiful little girl). I'm not sure what your protocol for this cycle was and how many follicles you got, etc., but always do a regroup with your RE and ask what you can do next cycle to change things up a bit, especially if you want to get more follicles. This is also very much up to your RE and your individual situation, but the cycle that worked for us I used progesterone suppositories post IUI and I am convinced it was critical to our success. |

Our first IUI failed, but our second IUI resulted in a BFP! I have diminished ovarian reserve and fully expected IUIs would not work, but had to give them a try. Things that were different the send time around (not sure whether any other than the meds change made a difference):
- Switched my meds so that my lining would be thicker and I got more than one mature follicle - made myself a spinach banana blueberry Greek yogurt smoothie most mornings - Took one baby aspirin every day to help with thinned lining - drank a few glasses of diluted pomegranate juice each day - went easy on the exercise, stuck with mostly walking and strength training - made sure to take my prometrium and estrace suppositories right before bed, in the hopes that they will work better if they don't leak out right away (sorry if TMI) Best of luck to you - I know this process sucks. |
| Thank you everyone. I can't tell you what a relief it is to hear these stories, and also just feel the support. This process can be quite lonely. I greatly appreciate it. |
| I got my success on my 5th IUI. My insurance said I needed 6 before they would pay for IVF and I remember telling my RE that I would need him to fight so I wouldn’t have to do this a 6th time but we didn’t have to because I got my BFP on Black Friday. I’ll never forget the call. |
