Count day/Waitlist Movement Question

LEA funding reform? I believe it is on hold due to lack of a DME. But probably the way to go-- money should follow the student all year, not just until October.

Yes, there has been a proposal in the works for a number of years, but it is on indefinite hold. Will not be in place for SY 18-19.

It's kinda ridiculous -- already special ed funding is pro-rated throughout the year and follows the child, so in theory, we already have a mechanism and process in place to follow.

I agree! I have seen very little movement this year. Are others expecting lists to move in August?

There was little movement last year too. And the year before. Same basic story every year since the common lottery happened -- with exceptions being when schools expand or open new classes. That's really all that causes much shuffling.

I keep seeing people saying that August is the month for movement.

There's some movement through September, but it isn't much. If you aren't under 10 by now at a desirable school, get comfortable with your current match. No need to remove yourself from the wait lists, just in case, but lower your expectations.

The Common Lottery is designed to match people who get lucky with the best master numbers at the school where they most want to be (put another way, to reduce waitlist movement).

Agreed.
