I absolutely love spending time with my immediate family (my 2 kids and spouse). Spending time 1:1 with my sister is great. Spending time with my parents is decent. I do have friends I like to be with.

Beware, your kids will model what they see out of their parents. One day it will probably be you, your kids don't care much for.

I don’t mind spending time with my parents and sister. However, my maternal aunt and her 3 sons and their partners are all heavy drinkers and get crazy drunk at every party which is very annoying. A fight always ends up happening. Last time my cousins gf was so drunk a bottle of vodka fell on the concrete and she cut her leg open. Another time this same gf almost got in a fight with my other cousins wife. My aunt also does hard drugs and her bf is just very strange and smokes too much. A paternal uncle of mine is a Christian pastor and him and his wife and 3 kids have a “holier than thou” aura about them that possess me off. My cousin (their son) is a schizophrenic and always hears voices and tries to kill himself all the time. So it’s hard to be around zealots and someone who is mentally disturbed and his parents just don’t seem to care much about him. My other uncle’s ex wife only married him for his money and took half so he’s depressed and never answers my dads call. Now he has a really young gf and forgot about his family. My other aunt lives basically in poverty and always has. She doesn’t drive and makes very little money and is always asking my parents for loans. And lastly my 3rd uncle is a nice man and so is his wife and I hte to day it but he’s my fave uncle because he’s so normal compared to the rest of my uncles and aunts.

I think it's OK if you don't have a deep connection with family. We are all different in personality and will connect with some and not others. This notion that family should be the most important thing in life is absurd.

They’re loud and I’m a quiet introvert. Some are really into drinking and I’m not. It’s hard to explain, I don’t know.

So only say "yes" sometimes. Having people in your court is not a problem.
