The reviews I've seen have said it's appropriate for 14 and up with a parent. |
| saw with my 14 year old. she made a joke when the National Anthem was playing that 45 will go bananas if he was there cause no one stand up. |
| I want to see it with my twelve year old but I hear it's not for kids. Is that correct? |
It’s about a kid, how can it not be for kids? She’s not giving head under the bleachers or snorting coke off some dude’s chiseled abs. She’s pudgy and zitty—have you even bothered watching the trailer? |
Read this article and decide for yourself. Our 11 year old loved it. https://www.indiewire.com/2018/07/eighth-grade-rated-r-mpaa-teenagers-problem-1201983811/ |
| I took my 12 yr old DD and her friend, and all 3 of us hated the movie. They said it was definitely not a real representation of middle school. |
What *is* a real representation of middle school? And can any one movie represent the middle school experience of all American kids? |
| Saw it with my 12y old (going into 7th) boy this weekend. We both thought it was slow but it gave us the chance to talk about social media, sex, hormones, behavior, etc. |
| Just watched the movie and I felt like I was watching a movie about my DD's experience in high school. Social media sucks. |
I felt like this stayed in the theaters for about five minutes. I really wanted to see it, but missed it.

| Loved it |

I saw this last night, finally, and found it really moving.
Who ever would have thought that BO BURNHAM would make this beautiful story about awkward girls? My nine year old daughter has anxiety and this film really spoke to me. I loved the relationship between her and her dad, and I loved her thoughts at the end of the movie. |
did you rent it? |
| It's great, and I think totally fine to show kids 12 or older. The worst thing in it is mention of a blow job. Just mention, mind you - nothing shown and she doesn't actually do it. |
