| I've been getting my hair colored for 30 years and never heard this rule. I don't go in with wet hair but it's always clean. I do wait a couple of days, though, after I get it colored before I wash it again. |

I wash my hair the day of coloring with no problem. Just don't scrub hard or blow dry.
Use just enough shampoo to do the job. |
+1 for this answer. |
| I would wash the hair the day before then just rinse it well after the workout with just water. Shampooing the hair before an appointment mostly just runs the risk of your scalp getting a bit more irritated than normal due to the color but it shouldn't impact the color much . However, I've had one bad experience in the past where I'd conditioned my hair in the morning and got it dyed that afternoon and the color deposited unevenly. It was a new to me conditioner and it turns out it had a ton of silicones in it that can coat the hair too thickly and lead to a bit of unevenness in the color (at least according to my stylist). Since I can't shampoo my hair without conditioning it, I always just skip the shampoo the day of. |
| I’ve gone straight to a hair appointment from a workout but I wouldn’t go from a really intense sweat session, like a outdoor run. Maybe just tone it down a little and do some weights and low impact cardio. |
| I almost always get my hair colored in the afternoon/evening and shampoo that morning. It's always fine. |

Skip the shampoo, but give it a good rinse. Use conditioner if needed.
My scalp is super sensitive to hair dye, and this is what the hairdresser has recommended if I can't just let it be after working out the morning of my appointment. He is fine with it being sweaty, it is more my feeling icky about it. And if it isn't dry, he is fine with drying it before starting. |
| Just wet it down? Who cares |
| I always wash my hair before my hair appointments. I don't think this matters at all. |
