What's up with all the butts?

It's SUMMER. It's 85-95 degrees outside and women have the right to wear what they want.

New poster here who knows exactly what OP means. The outfit in the above image (as well as the others in that post) are downright conservative compared to the current trend for short shorts.

I’m all for “if you’ve got it, flaunt it” but as someone said above, hygiene is a real issue with this new style.

FTR, this is closer to what I am seeing...

Interesting - I've never seen them that short in real life. But apparently its a trend called underbum/underbutt.

Personally it doesn't bother me and looks very much like the hot mamas 70s shorts you saw at and after Woodstock, but to each their own.

The picture with that guy was just too much. Yuck. No hurry for that to some back.

I just had to have a 'fun' conversation with some recent high school graduate interns on Monday regarding this trend.

Lesson learned: when hiring young people and you tell them they can dress casual (because they were hired to do grunt work & not interact with clients), be sure to specify that butt cheeks should NOT hang below the hem of the short.

What made the conversation even more uncomfortable was that 4/7 interns have parents who work here. I can't imagine allowing my kid (yeah, yeah, I get that they are 17/18, but still) to leave the house and go to work with me with their ass cheeks hanging out! Annnnd to not be sexist or single anyone out, I got to have the conversation with all interns together (mixed sexes) and with senior HR present. Fun start to the week!

And before anyone calls me grandma, I'm 32. I just prefer to keep my ass cheeks covered.

Based on what I've seen in the past few weeks, weight issues aren't stopping anyone from wearing the shorts OP is talking about.

FanTASTIC! This sounds like the trend for me. Especially with bikini bottoms. I'll stop worrying about coverage so much......

This can be completely blamed on Brazilian Wax trend. If there was fuzz between the bottoms...

True. Some things cannot be unseen.

As a principal wrote in a memo, "If it slid on and off your body at the pool this summer, it's not appropriate professional attire for school."

Male professional basketball players used to wear short shorts. Look at old pix of Larry Bird, Magic, Chamberlin, etc.

Shorty short.

And we have the right to comment on how stupid we think it looks.

As a non-single guy, I can't tell if I appreciate the eye candy or am annoyed at the constant reminders that I'm not allowed to have sex with other people
