Blair or Krasnow to beat Elrich?

Yes, Elrich seems super far left. What the PP was referring to is the fact that Elrich is some weird hybrid of far left in some ways and super NIMBY in other ways.

OP here. Must be more than 1! Sorry for starting a new thread, I was just curious if anyone had seen any hard data/poll numbers to help me decide. I do know a lot of anti-Elrich people, but they're all over the place about who they are voting for. It's interesting - I don't think Elrich will get a majority of the vote, but I do think he'll get the plurality.

I actually like a lot of Elrich's policies in theory, but from an economic standpoint, I think he's a real danger. Social and economic programs need to be funded, and to do that, the County needs good tax revenue. To get that, we need a strong tax base - and a strong tax base is built on good schools which drive up property values and strong businesses. In my opinion, Elrich's policies will hurt schools and businesses, causing that tax base to flee to friendler jurisdictions.

However, since I think it's likely Elrich will win, I sincerely hope I'm wrong

I've been debating this for the last few days. I don't have a problem with Elrich, like some do, but i've decided to vote for krasnow.

I fully expect Krasnow and Blair to split the vote and give the win to Elrich, whereupon our tax base will flee, businesses will choose NOVA, and our schools will degrade further, along with our property values. In turn, the County will collect even less in taxes and have less money for the schools, which will then get even worse. Yay.

Nevertheless, I will cast my vote in an effort to prevent that. Does anyone have any actual data regarding who has the best shot - Blair or Krasnow? I will vote for either if it means a chance at defeating Elrich.

Don't do that. Vote for Frick. He has a larger following than you might think. Vote for the best candidate, period.

Actually, Elrich is the only one of the current Council members running who gives a *&(^ about existing neighborhoods. If Leventhal wins, housing values will plummet - because this is the policy he wants to see in order to make MoCo more affordable. Elrich is more moderate and reasonable - independent really - than you've been led to believe by those who fear him. He's kind of a parallel to Hogan. Ie, Hogan is to Republicans as Elrich is to Democrats.

Agree about Leventhal, but I don't think he has much of a chance.

I like Berliner, but I doubt he’ll get many votes. And I’d take Elrich any day over Blair, basically the Democratic version of Trump.

Berliner is awful. In another thread, someone posted data that most of his funding comes from developers. I live in his district and people are always complaining that he won't respond to constituent calls about traffic and education and tax issues. I truly hope he doesn't get promoted to be Executive.

Why Frick over Blair? I’m between these two. Who can walk the balance between growth/new businesses to increase tax base and jobs witj effective public service (not having overcrowded schools, roads/public transportation to handle increases traffic, affordable housing etc)?

OP, if you are set on Frick, then vote for him, that’s what we did.

Thank you for posting that! I don’t know much about Frick, but I am impressed by the level of detail and thought in his responses. I am considering him now.

Blair is the worst and won't win a dem primary no matter how much $ he spends.

Think I’m going to stick with Krasnow. I just can’t warm up to Blair and am not convinced it’s a race between him and Elrich.

Having been in hearings and small meetings with Berliner, I can report that he is the least prepared and least interested council member and candidate. Rarely asks questions. When he does, it makes you wonder how smart he is.
