seriously, a really cool amusement park ride is a much better comparison for an Arlington County school than a DC school is.

Alternatively, its only 185 bus stops

Well, Discovery does have that slide. Btw, it gets me that people always bring up the slide when the playgrounds are the real showstoppers. The slide is nothing.

Which version of this plan did we get?

Is this the “mostly crap” version, but with a parking lot? Is this the compromise?

The new high school in FCC is supposed to cost $125 million for I think over a thousand seats. That's the amount the voters approved for the bond, probably going to end up costing a lot more.

Correction: $120 million bond, 1500 student capacity, construction starting in 2019 and lasting two years.

That is just throwing away money.

Because there is no other available space right now.

Not true. There is no other space available where we have the political will to put it.

Totally ridiculous to not be getting a 4th comprehensive high school for that kind of money.

What is a Career Center high school?

It isn't a Career Center high school. It's an additional high school on the site where the Career Center is located. The Career Center houses many vocational programs and classes that 900 students from the other high schools attend as electives - engineering, aviation, others. It has animal science, forensic science, cosmetology, auto mechanics, cybersecurity, EMT training, teen parenting program with a licensed and operating daycare, and much more.

All schools are good schools, but some are better than others. Always ask the people who tell you "all schools are good" and that your kid "will be fine" where their children go to school. Watch them sputter.

My kids have been at 2 APS elementary schools, one crazy overcrowded in an old facility, and one brand new beautiful facility without crowding. They ARE both great schools, and my kids will be fine. No sputtering necessary.
