Or OP doesn't care about a tv in the house and doesn't want it to interfere with her decorating plans, regardless of how her husband feels.

+1 to this. We have a 9x9 room that doubles as the home office/ guest room and my MIL bought us an American leather sofa for that room so she’d have a comfy place to sleep. We thought she was crazy for dropping $5K on it but after trying it out, NOPE. Excellent use of money.
