I'll bite. This is overall club, not boys vs girls.
- Arlington - Richmond United - Alexandria - Bethesda - VDA - Loudoun (w/NVA) - SYC - Baltimore Armour - MD United |

Here’s an attempt at club power rankings https://youthsoccergames.com/club-power-rankings/boys
|
| Rankings without criterion is like drunks judging looks at 2am in the bar |
Nah - rankings app (apple/google play store) is still better than this. I know this is a VERY old post, but I'll include the usual disclaimer to NEVER use gotsoccer rankings for anything. |
| It’s simple. Whichever clubs pay more to this new site/app will end up ranked higher. It’s all a business. You know how it works. |
This is completely false. The rankings app is just an algorithm. |
And since you clearly haven't used it, the funding comes from a yearly subscription paid by the end user (not a club/team/whatever). Think more Consumer Reports review vs some crappy paid magazine review. |
Curious. Why Arlington and Alexandria over Bethesda? |
Rankings app solid except for U13 & U14. They don’t use MLS’s Quality of Play rankings for teams so it’s skewed until U15 when it’s Win/Loss record. |
Garbage in Garbage out |
Because it's someone's opinion 🤷 |
But it's not - they actually fix incorrect results. Our entire league has correct results and the app including all external tournaments. I'd say the rankings match almost exactly with how the teams would be subjectively graded as well. |
Does it rank passing accuracy? Does it rank the number of successful dribbles with a positive net result? Does it rank combined team decision making? Does it rank goals off set pieces vs run of play? Basically, the app will tell you that the best team that has a horrible goalie is a bad team |
That’s why I want to dig into their opinion. Combined, they have not produced more professionals on the boys side than BSC. Alexandria has terrific dugouts and paraphernalia. Curious on whether my perspective is limited on other factors. I don’t know enough about Richmond United to opine an opinion. |
If you want to rank the litany of things that you listed above, then start an app to do that. Hire the statisticians to keep track of said items. Geez, it's freaking youth soccer, not the EPL for Pete's sake. All in all, I think the Rankings app does a decent job of placing teams where they should be. I know when looking at my DDs ECNL team and who she was playing at playoffs, it was pretty accurate with the predictive side of things. If you are looking at results - that is WINS, then yes, the team may have wonderful metrics as you describe, but if the goalie can't stop a beachball, then right, they are a bad team overall. |
