Our school (not one of the schools listed by OP) actually does have recognition for kids who got all As, or had perfect attendance, or who just demonstrated a great attitude toward learning that quarter.
It's not an "honor roll" but there is an assembly and their names go on a sign in the hall. It's not a huge deal, and the attitude award balances things out for the kids who won't make straight As no matter how hard they try. |
| Honor roll is a huge joke in middle school. It's a participation trophy designed to showcase the lack of academic rigor and disdain for excellence in MCPS. |

| Btw, it would be even moreso in elementary. Your kid has straight As? So does mine. And so does the struggling child across the street. As for everybody! |
| Any school that ranks elementary school students is an awful, terrible place. Way to put pressure on a 10-year-old. That said, I have never heard of that and I doubt there is a public elementary school in the country that does it. |
um not every kid gets straight As - you know that right? |
| No honor roll in HS. joke is for MS. |
Why do people obsess over CES? The fact my average child can be served at our local elementary is a blessing. |
Really?? Which one? |
Just enroll in the general ed program of a school that also has a CES! |
