Why so many to Georgia?

Wow! This is surprising to me. I’m the parent of a 6th grader (and 3rd grader) in the Whitman pyramid. I think there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a school like UMD or going to CC or a Penn State, Georgia, etc. but many of the people I know talk it up like every other kid is going to a Yale or harvard or Stanford.

Or Williams, Amherst, Pomona, Swarthmore?

Seems like a really underwhelming year

Why underwhelming? A public school sent a nontrivial number of kids to elite institutions and a substantial number to darn good ones. No ordinary public school is so special.

How is the college counselling at Whitman?

My high school in Illinois did way better than this.

It's not underwhelming at all -- that's an massive amount of geographic diversity. Most public schools send 95% of their seniors to in-state colleges. Good to see a school with so many open-minded fearless kids. New states, long ways from home, all new friends, not knowing anyone is super intimidating to most teens.

Good luck to all the graduates!

New Trier or Lake Forest? New Trier is like 2.5x as large.
