Do you have a hobby?

No. Keeping us and the house clean and reasonably well fed seems to be my only hobby.

I have been thinking of doing this! May I ask, is it a church choir? Everything unrelated to a church seems to be a paid position and a bit much for me! Thanks.

Read, read and read.

Although cooking is a must to feed a family, I consider it my hobby since I actually enjoy it so much and love to take on new challenges in the kitchen. I love cooking for friends and talking about recipes.

Going for walks with my dog.

I, too, wish I had a hobby. My husband always tells me I need one, b/c he thinks I will be less stressed if I have one (not that he would take over any of my responsibilities). I do have a lot of interests that I either no longer pursue or rarely find the opportunity to do: Craft projects, like redecorating/repainting old furniture; I love to sing and would love to be part of a choir (the tragedy of it all is that I have no real singing talent); I used to LOVE going to live music shows but I can't remember the last time I have been to one. This thread is making me sad. I need to go find myself.

I knit. Not very well, but it is my hobby alone (not centered around my kids).

I could have written this post. I am going to take my husband up on his statement and do something about it though, which means he likely will have to do dinner/bedtime once a month at least. I would like to be part of a book club again, perhaps a singing group (I like to sing, but am also pretty mediocre), and go to live shows in smaller venues (Birchmere). Let's both try to make that happen. May be I will see you around

I train dogs for obedience and agility competitions.

I enjoy scrapbooking cardmaking and art journaling.

I used to train and show my horse in combined training competitions but it got to be too complicated getting out there AND working AND being a parent. Don't recommend riding for a busy person's hobby.

--Now I bird watch. What I do is pick a weekend morning (or a "mental health day") with my best friend, we get a really early coffee and drive to some beautiful place and stomp around in the woods or by the water for a couple of hours. It's awesome. It's girlfriend time and outdoors time and hobby time.

--Husband and I are also baseball fanatics. Watching the game is our everyday (at least April-October) hobby together.

--I take my dog fun places like mountain hikes. Kid and DH do this too.

--I don't read much anymore because I'm a professional writer and I get sick of words by the end of the day, but I like getting travel books and planning the vacations we'll probably never take.

I also do needlepoint (a kind of embroidery), which unfortunately is not as hip as knitting, but is sort of soothing and meditative (and portable) in the same way.

And I participate in a local grassroots group that supports a cause I'm passionate about. Mostly this entails being active on a listserv, signing petitions, and volunteering to do shifts when we have a table at local street fair type events.

I am like you in what hobbies I like! Totally feel that needlepoint is not hip, for that reason I never display my work. I may give an embroidered tablecloth to my mom who still LOVES everything I produce

I am also active in my church but it doesn't feel like a hobby - more like a huge chore that I sometimes wish to leave behind.
