We used to have someone come in 4 hours/day, 5 days/week, but she also worked for a neighbor. More recently we had someone coming 5 hours/day, 3x/week, but then she asked to consolidate the hours into two days. We pay $25/hour with several weeks paid leave per year.
+1 on this. Its not worth driving for 1 hour to work for 2 hours. If the person lives by and could be there in 5-10 minutes, then it may be worth it for them, otherwise the per hour rate may be high or pay them for their travel hours as well. So instead of paying for 2 hours, pay for 3 hours to account for commute and sweeten the deal.
