| I think staff gets preference for non-merit based programs, like the lottery for immersion. |
Yup, this has happened at our school, too. We do have a couple of staff members who live in the neighborhood, though, and the principal asks them well before class lists are made up for the following year, which teacher they want their child to have and will put the kid in that class. But honestly, the requests of non-staff parents with specific preferences are also mostly honored, too, so it's not really special treatment. |
Is Obama on the Montgomery County Board of Education? |
Yes, despite his membership on the MCPS BOE, Obama sent his kids to Sidwell. True story.
|
Nope. |
You’re grasping at straws Op. |
| I imagine they don't get preference for special programs, but several of the teachers at my kid's school have their kids there too. Would imagine they decide whose class their kids are in each year which is something us parents have no say in. |
LOL!! People are crazy |
And does he even live in Maryland? WTH |
Actually, you do. |
| obama's on MCPS BoE right now? the other BoE must be wetting themselves with glee. |
You know, it's Obama's fault it's raining today. True Fact. |
lol no. |
| There's one (or used to, not sure if she is still there) RM GC who had her multiple kids accepted into IB program. Maybe her kids were particularly smart but I always wondered about if she "knew" something others didn't. |
| Did you ever think that maybe some smart teachers have smart kids? And maybe teachers have a tendency to teach their kids to read early, take them to museums, and provide enriching activities while they grow up? Many kids of English teachers know how to write well, kids of math teachers are good at math, kids of science or history teachers know a lot of science or history. Kids of teachers get into magnet programs because they are well prepared, not because of special preference. |
