Do both partners get involved in financial planning and execution

I do big picture stuff like overall asset allocations, budgeting, tax planning, etc.

Husband likes to research individual items, so he is the one who researches what car to buy, where to go on vacation, which widget is the best, etc. I generally agree with his choice unless I think he is spending too much or cheaping out on something important.
