Any Eaton parents here?

Right now I can walk 3 blocks and pop in to help at a party or be the mystery reader no big deal, but if it will involve driving and parking to do the same thing, that just won’t be a possibility as much as it is now.

If you want to volunteer, you'll make it happen; same happened for us a Murch. It was a pain but it's now the new normal.

Stoddert was renovated just a few years ago. How can that already be in a queue again?

I think they’re doing some work on it in like 2022 or 2023.

Agree, that was pretty offensive.

Laughable. I mean, really, give me a freaking break!

OP here.
Thanks everyone! We recently moved to the neighborhood so don’t know much about Eaton and I couldn’t find reviews online.

I’m happy to find out all of you like the school!

If your child goes to school here, what do you love and dislike about the school?

I am sad to hear that you tried to lottery out of Eaton. It is truly a gem in DCPS. I echo the comments from others that the entire school community is warm and welcoming. Such a nurturing place for our 2 lower elementary children.

You and your K child will love the community.

I was hoping for a full Spanish immersion school since I’m Latina myself and my kids don’t get to speak Spanish with anyone else but me. That’s why I tried the lottery.

I honestly don’t know much about Eaton since I recently moved here but I’m so happy to read that everyone loves this school.

Hi. Not sure what you all mean by “give me a break.” I thought the point of a lottery was to find a school that best fits the kids’ needs. I think you’re being rude to this person.

Well, yea, but if it involves me taking two hours off work instead of 1, it will certainly be less frequently than I do now, especially with 2 kids to split my time between when this happens.

At the open house, the admin said that Eaton would take over the school that Hyde-Addison is currently using as a swing space. Is that not true anymore?

Definitely have not told current parents that is for certain and I thought after the last planning meeting that we were told it would be something we would have input into.

Great families. Too crowded, too regimented about both behavior and curriculum, inconsistent teacher quality.

Eaton is good, but it still has a way to go to match JKLM level. It's still more of a "DC school" than a "neighborhood school" but that is changing over time.

What is hard to understand is if Eaton is overcrowded, why does it offer so many spots to OOB students? Isn't the logical response to overcrowding to focus on dialing back the OOB enrollment level?

NARRATOR: They would get no input into the swing space.

We tried to lottery *in* to Eaton for PK4 some years ago but were #350 on the waitlist!
Have several friends with kids there and they have really been happy with the school. Great community, good academics. A sweet place.

Enjoy the school!
