Georgetown full pay vs. in-state UVA

I think there is a bit of GU hate on this board. Georgetown is certainly well regarded across the country and having lived in different parts of the country I would confidently say that it is held in higher regard than UVA. But for me personally it wouldn't be worth the cost premium but I have no idea where your child's interests lie.....which I would hope would factor into the equation.

UVA. This is an easy decision. It’s become an extremely popular, highly coveted school. Georgetown is a fading, overly expensive, and overrated school. A no brainer, really.

As a parent now I'd prefer my kids to attend Georgetown over UVA. Also growing up in New England, Georgetown was very prestigious, UVA less so.

It is certainly a known quantity outside of this area, without doubt.

If it’s for the SFS, yes. Otherwise, probably not. I directly credit doing well at Georgetown SFS and developing connections there for getting my dream job, and succeeding at it. If you want a government job, there are few places that prepare you better.
