| Which is the more sound option, and why? Is Georgetown's prestige and location worth 120K more (over four years)? |
| I would do in state for undergrad and Georgetown for grad school. |
| Location? Do you live in the DC area or elsewhere? I imagine it would be quite dull to pay lots of money to go to university in the city where you grew up. Different matter if you grew up elsewhere. |
Yes, NOVA, arts and sciences school at both (Georgetown College vs. College of Arts and Sciences at UVA). Likes the appeal of being in D.C. for internships, but perhaps UVA has a stronger campus community and more traditional college experience? Thanks for the insights |
| If you can afford it, Georgetown for sure. |
| Georgetown full pay is not worth it. Save your money for grad school/law/med. |
| Have a first year at UVA from large fcps high school. Loves UVA, loves Charlottesville. Really great experience so far. Loves the community vibe, sports, opportunities to get involved, etc. Moving into Apt with friends next year and it's affordable. Really misses it when home on breaks. Has internship lined up for the summer in DC. |
| We really liked Georgetown but decided to save it for post undergrad. |
|
I'm not a UVA alum or fan, but I think UVA is comparable or superior in both Ugrad and Grad.
Georgetown has halo bias in DC, but rest of country does not see a difference. |
UVA. Georgetown is not worth that much more. |
If you can swing it without much sacrifice, yes! Georgetown is well known abroad. |
Here in the west coast, most can't tell the difference between Georgetown, George Mason, Georgia Tech... |
| What major? |
+100 |
+1 And by afford it, without excessive borrowing or limiting of your child's future options. |
