Penn M&T acceptance is not a given in this case. I do think though that a kid competitive enough to get a Yale likely will most likely get into Penn SEAS or Wharton separately.
So if your DC gets rejected from M&T he will likely get into the individual Penn school he designated on his app as a second choice to Penn M&T (i.e. SEAS or Wharton). |
Not new. I got a likely letter from HYP over 30 years ago. I was a recruited athlete. The letter said I had a 98% chance of admittance and was sent 2 months before the RD letters came out. |
I think it is more prevalent now among schools competing for not just athletes but top academic students or students who are both. Once you get a likely letter the school goes overboard trying to convince you to attend. |
M&T is a phenomenal opportunity! Good luck -I hope your DC gets in! |
No. I've been interviewing for my (lower according to all you) Ivy for 15+ years and there has always been a column in the tracking system for "Likely Letter." And my husband received one to our college over 20 years ago. |
M&T accepts about 30 or less students RD out of a pool of ~1500 RD applicants that are the top of the top and extremely self-selected. Yale likely doesn't guarantee much for M&T but I would bet you will get into general Penn undergrad if you get rejected from M&T. |
M&T is pretty much guaranteed $20,000+ summer internship and $150,000 first-year comp at age 22. |
Thanks! A few more days waiting. Hopefully M&T works out. |
Fingers crossed for you. Please let us know how it works out! |
On the other hand I think your kid would get into huntsman program
It’s larger and easier to get into compared to fisher |
