Landmarc at the times Warner building. Ask to get a table by the window.

But you could just do that in DC

You might want to adjust your idea of $$$. We recently went to breakfast and had waffles, coffee, tea and our bill was over $100! And that was just breakfast! So, I would like to know where you can get a nice dinner for $100 in NYC without it being McDonalds. LOL

are you from the countryside?

What are you talking about? I live in the DC area. Since when in DC you spend over $100 for breakfast? Also, why the insult? I was trying to adjust her expectations. Dinner sure is more expensive but, we weren't ordering that much! They charged $7 each just for the extra bacon.

Sounds like you were in a hotel maybe? "They charged". Its written on the menu which you can read before ordering. If you didn't like the prices you should have gone to one of the hundreds of other places in NYC that doesn't serve $7 bacon.

You sound really daft.

What neighborhood?

What do you think she means by "fancy"? If I were doing this with my kids, I'd probably shoot for a fabulous meal at some renowned place (like the bar cafe at Gramercy Tavern) or a place that is famously a scene with great food (like Balthazar - not at all of the moment, but a classic). That would be feel fancy to my kids (because they are pricier than our usual DC haunts). But they are not fancy in the sense of white tablecloths, etc. If she wants fancy-fancy, then some classic place like Daniel or Jean Georges etc.

I'd look at The Infatuation app, and/or Eater and find something from there.

Yes, we were in a hotel. Sorry we aren't as perfect as you. No, I didn't look at the prices closely. Of course, hindsight is 20-20 and we know we should have looked at the prices before hand...DUH! Thanks for pointing that out Captain Obvious. You have never made any mistakes? Point I was trying to make was ny is expensive and be prepared to pay way more than here in DC. Op said she wanted a nice restaurant for $100.

Well you sound like a Dick.

Agree the price point is a little low for a "fancy" restaurant.

however, I think you can find some places with pre-fixe pre theater menu near the theater district.

Anonymous
Not what you were looking for, but what about taking her for a fancy afternoon tea?

I did that at her age and still have fond memories and there are many great places to do that in NYC.
