| I can do sets of 10, but it has taken several years of lifting to get there. |

50 year old here- no, not even a little bit.
My son has one of the bars that hangs in the doorway and he and my husband use it though out the day. I noticed my son swinging from side to side one day to pull himself up when he couldn't do any more pull ups. He said a kid in school had shown him that swaying your body while pulling up helps. Good Luck |
| I am 45 and can do 15 in a row. It look me a long time to get there though. |
Are you a woman? |
Are you a woman? |
Yes, late 30's female. I was never particularly strong as a kid, but really got into weight lifting as an adult. |
| I know 2 women who can do several. One was actually on the Ninja Warrior show, and one is a trained rock climber. As others have said, you have to train a certain group of muscles. |
| I have learned to do them over the past year. The method I used involved rubber bands of varying thickness which are attached to the pullup bar, and you put your foot in them to help you do the pullup. The thicker rubber bands provide more help, and as you get stronger, you use thinner rubber bands and eventually dispense with them altogether. |
Thanks, PP. did you follow any specific program or do specific exercises? I feel like my lats are fairly strong and developed, but can’t pull myself up. |
| Ha, no. I was a D1 track athlete and at my peak fitness, I could do one. Just one. |
Thanks, PP! |

I've never been able to do one and I consider myself fairly fit. I did bicep curls for years in my early 20s and still couldn't do a pull up.
It always annoyed me that I couldn't get the blue presidential fitness badge when I was in school because I couldn't do a pull up. Kinda depressing when I was so good at athletics. All the boys could do them, but girls just did arm hangs. |
| I'm 42, and in reasonably good shape, and I don't think I've ever been able to do one. Maybe I did 1 in elem school when we had that test, but otherwise, no. |
| I can do about 10 at a time. I am a 39 year old woman in pretty good shape. When I first started I couldn't even do half of one, but I've trained really hard for the past year. You have to do a lot of lifting and push ups first. |
| 48. Christ, I can't even roll out of bed without aches and pain in my feet, hips and back. I haven't tried a pull-up since 8th-grade, but will try at the playground today and will report back. If anyone else tries, please report back, and whether or not you could do it overhand/underhand or both. |
