Ps: and the general sentiment in my house was relief/got off easy.

Wow. That's awful.

In this case, the officer was quite correct to pull her over for "suspicious activity" - it turned out that his suspicions were unfounded, but he had to pull her over to discover that.

OP this happened to me before too. I think the officer just felt dumb.

The mark of a truly weak man is one who does not have the confidence to admit an honest mistake. We are human.

Personally, I think he sounds like a f#cking loser.

WHY? You have the right to drive on the HOV. Don't play the pity game either.

The type of people who often want to become police.

Not to mention he's right about the spirit of HOV. You ended up with only a warning, his is truly a no harm no foul situation, what outcome are you looking for?
Anonymous
I would contact the police department where you suspect he works, send them a copy of the warning, and explain kindly that their officer needs training. HOV laws are laws, not "spirits".

Honest question, should you not take HOV with kids/nondrivers? I can see both sides.

Haha, I am South Asian, and one time I got pulled over and the cop was giving me the third degree for some reason - I drive a nice car, and I had some cleaning supplies in the back. He asked me where I was going...I said to work, he asked if I was a maid.

There is no "spirit of the HOV." That's just some bullsh#t the officer made up. The law is the law. When did living, breathing babies stop qualifying as "persons"?

The appropriate response from a respectful and socially well-adjusted man is to laugh at the mistake, wave at the babies, and say "Have a good day, ma'am."

Bootlickers like you disgust me.

That is complete and utter bullshit. You should have gotten an apology. Yep, I'm white.

"spirit of the law" Umm, OK. The letter of the law is how it works.

How is it a mistake when he couldn't SEE her snowflakes .... Snowflakes that shouldn't count because they are not keeping their own vehicles off the road?

He didn't make a mistake. He was doing his job and putting himself at risk to do it. I guarantee he was frustrated with your probable self-entitled smugness.

Babies are people.

The law does not say 2 people over X age.
