You make the classic mistake of assuming that because you have found anecdotal evidence, you can generalize that to cover an entire demographic. There are 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide. Significantly less than 50% of them practice child marriage. So you are going to characterize a huge population based on a small percentage of those that have this practice. I understand that the number is significantly large. That makes it a problem. It does not make it a characteristic of the demographic.

The Mormon president, Warren Jeffs, is serving life in prison for marrying and sexually assaulting a 12 year old girl and a 15 year old girl. 25 of the 50 states do not have comprehensive laws and either allow under-age (under 18) marriages or allow exceptions to the laws. An informal estimate is that approximately 200,000 undeage minors have married in the US within the last 15 years. New Jersey governor Chris Christie just last year refused to sign a bill into law that would ban marriages to a minor without exception. So, are you likewise saying that Caucasian American men have a pedophilia problem. Are you going to get divorced because your husband is a potential pedophiliac? Are you going to say that all state legislators and governors are pedophiliacs because they won't pass comprehensive laws that absolutely ban child marriages?

The fact is, in some Muslim cultures, child marriage is accepted. We are talking about young children, not 16 year olds. Pre-pubescent children and against their will at that. We are not talking about teenagers wanting to marry here.

Even you acknowledge that this is an issue limited to "some" Muslim cultures and some governments. The abhorrent practices are not part of Islam as a whole. Local customs and culture is often entwined with Islam resulting in very different practices among Muslims in different parts of the world. Something that may be common among Muslims in some areas may be virtually unheard of in other areas. To describe something that has non-Islamic local origins as "Islamic" is inaccurate.

It is very clear that your agenda is tarnishing an entire religion and not on protecting children. If anything, you have demonstrated that my decision to remove the thread being discussed was correct. Given that is really the only issue germane to Website Feedback, I am going to lock this thread. In the future, please take your anti-Islamic campaign elsewhere.
