I double checked and your are right. I bought the ticket 10/17/15 and the flights were 8/23/16-8/30/16.

Depends on where you want to save - you can save money flying into SLC, but then you lose lots of time - tack on another 4-5 hours to drive each way. Not worth it for me. Maybe if you're spending 2 weeks out there, you can afford to lose that much time.
