Ha ha ha!! Thanks for my biggest laugh today!

I'm glad you enjoyed the laugh (and got the irony-people perceive things way to literally on this site). I guess, despite the risk of sounding sanctimonious or even worse, boring, I think I was trying to point out the fact that, well, OK, here goes: People are dying out there involved in religious and political wars. There are children in the world that don't have food to eat. Some people can't afford to go to the doctor. Working parents are dealing with children with special needs. Why do I feel it's a little short-sighted, for lack of a better term, to complain about the banal? Isn't there a bigger picture? Are we so self-absorbed and technologically hot wired that we are unable to recognize when we have it good, that things could be worse (a whole lot fucking worse like death, sickness, or having a daily involvement with attorneys due to employment or less fortunate circumstances), and yet, people in cars are beeping their horns at pedestrians in crosswalks? Call it it naivete on my part? Hopeless idealism? When did we become so focused on ourselves? Does the fear created by the media as a result of the current economic situation cause us to be more self-centered? And more importantly, why is DWTS so popular? By the way, please take account of the fact that my misguided liberal ass never mentioned the ozone layer once.

Christ 17:27, you are sanctimonious. EVERYONE knows that atrocities abound and we could wallow in the sadness, despair, horror, pain, etc. every second of every day, if we wanted to. Many people have their ways of giving back and/or coping with these weighty problems, and your little thread killer of a post was totally pedantic and condescending. Why don't you go wring your hands in the corner (or better yet, get off your computer and go volunteer at a charity) and let others blow off a little amusing steam about their pet peeves? Good grief.

Okaaaaay, moving on.......

People who get their young children to simply memorize a large amount of information (like state capitals or presidents) and then act like they are geniuses and have them on Letterman.
Anonymous
people who leave the gates open in gated, kiddie parks.

OOhhh, when I am crossing the street with DD, and a car starts to take a left-hand turn...sees us crossing, then gives ME the little "go ahead" gesture with their hand, as if I DIDN'T have the right-of-way in the first place? Gr.

ou

PP, are you insane?

I made what I thought was a fantastic dinner but didn't realize I had used red curry sauce instead of the spinach simmer sauce I usually use so the entire pot of fish and veggies and rice was too spicy for my kids and once again they wouldn't eat what I cooked for dinner. Bummed.

Seriously! Even my three year old knows to close the gate (and asks in a very loud voice "why didn't those people close the gate")

Why don't take a gesture as it is meant: "I see you, don't worry, I'm not going to run over you".

Better than the cars that try to beat you to the far side of the crosswalk so they don't have to stop for you. Or those that stop and then speed away like you annoyed them because they had to stop.

Much better a car with an attentive driver than a Metro bus and a driver with a tight deadline. You would have been killed for sure.

Misplaced hyphens.

We all hate seeing an apostrophe where it doesn't belong, but the sneaky hyphen has been coasting. Time to turn up the heat.

Corollary to that: when I'm driving and someone is crossing-- legally, illegally, I don't care-- and they do that "stop" gesture with their hand. What, like you're going to stop my car with your hand, superman? Like if you hadn't put me in my place by showing me your palm I woulda just mowed you down? I'm going to stop anyway! If I didn't see your entire body in the crosswalk, raising your hand isn't going to make the difference. It's pure attitude.
