Another flu question - would you be pissed if your accountant cancelled on you?

This! Tell them you have the flu and cannot meet face to face this week, but you are willing to call of FaceTime (do you feel up to it?) if needed.

I would totally understand if you cancelled due to the flu and livid if you didn't. Just make sure you tell people you have been dignoses with influenza and you are on Tamiflu. Otherwise they might just think it is the kind of cold that sometimes people casually call the flu.

+1

Yes! Call and cancel; say that you have been diagnosed with the flu, and tell them are still contagious.

I might be annoyed momentarily, but them immediately afterwards would be grateful -- this year's flu is particularly bad.

you'd better fucking cancel if you're my CPA.

If you feel up to going, you could tell the the truth. Say you have the flu, and you'd feel terrible if they caught it, and are willing to reschedule, but are able to go if they still want you to.

I'd call them. No one in their right mind would want to meet with someone with the flu. Offer to do it over the phone or as soon as you recover.

Cancel or do a remote meeting if you are well enough. Any accountant who spreads the flu to me will be my ex-accountant.

I would want you to cancel but make it clear you will follow up with them to reschedule when you're well (unless you're feeling up to doing the phone/facetime meetings PPs suggested). I admit I get really peeved when a person I'm doing business with cancels a meeting due to an issue on their end then leaves it on me to get back on their schedule. In those cases, unless they are providing a service I can't get elsewhere, I go elsewhere.

I would fire you as my accountant if you kept the appointment and I discovered you had the flu. It is contagious this year by breathing.

Yeah, in if it is actual flu- I don't want you to be doing math.

Another vote for cancel. I have the flu now, in fact. Definitely, cancel.

Call them, tell them you were just diagnosed with the flu and offer them the option of doing it by phone/Facetime or rescheduling (perhaps offer to meet outside your usual business hours if it's more convenient for them). If they're desperate to keep the meeting and willing to risk catching the flu, keep the meeting on calendar because they know the risk and are choosing to take it.

They’re gonna be pissed but if you cancel, it’s not your fault that they’re pissed, it’s the circumstance. If you keep the appointment and they get the flu (or even if they don’t), then they’re pissed and it is your fault.

No, I would give my accountant a bonus.

People HATE it when people infect them with sickness when it is avoidable.

I would fire an accountant or any of my staffers for intentionally getting me sick (which I would designate them as doing if they showed up to a meeting with me with visible symptoms, such as coughing/sneezing/visibly uncomfortable and sick looking)

I would be beyond angry if you had the flu and kept an in-person appointment with me!!! Be a responsible person and cancel the appointments!
