I am an accountant with a small(ish) practice, although this is obviously a very busy time of year. I have three in-person appointments tomorrow that have been scheduled for a while now. I was just diagnosed with the flu and am on Tamiflu and hoping for the best. I will go ahead and have my remote meetings regardless, but am wondering what I should do about the in-person ones.
It's a lose lose situation because if I cancel, I know they will be pissed. But if I have them come, they will be pissed that I have the flu if they catch it! |
| No way. I would want you to cancel. |
+1 i'd be more likely to use you in the future, too, than if you showed up and gave me the flu. |
+1 I would be 10000x more pissed if you showed up with the flu than if you rescheduled. Offer to do it remotely if you’re feeling well enough. |
|
People might be pissed for a few minutes. But they will get over it. Email them NOW.
If you don’t and go the meeting, they will never get over it even if they don’t get the flu. |
| Just let them know you have to cancel because you have flu and you don’t want to spread germs. They would appreciate that. |
|
Cancel.
Tamiflu shortens symptoms- you are still contagious. |
| You cannot meet with people in person if you have the flu. That would be entirely irresponsible. Any decent human being will understand you postponing a meeting if you have the flu. They are not going to want to catch it from you! |
| Could you cancel the face-to-face, but offer a few mins during the slot (for free) to chat over the phone about pressing questions they may have until they reschedule? |
| Please cancel. |
| how about canceling the meetings but still have the people drop off the paper work and you can at least work on the taxes with out the risk of getting people sick |
+1 I would be very annoyed if you showed up. |
|
Cancel!
I would be really mad if you made me visit you when you have the flu. What if one of your client's has a serious medical problem and you exposing them to the flu put them at risk? |
| Cancel. If possible, offer to hold the meeting by phone or video, but definitely cancel. |
| Aside from the contagious aspect, when I’ve had the flu I am weak and super tired. I wouldn’t want my meeting with my accountant to happen when she is barely functioning. |
