He was definitely giving you a compliment, and as a 2/4, you are a small person, so you definitely don't have to worry that he thought you were large. What you should have done as a response was rub your hand down the curve of your hip and then grabbed his hand and did the same with it. That's sexy. A man loves nice curves.
