| I shaved before my c-section but the nurse had a small razor and shaved up where the incision went. It depends on how high your hair goes. For drs appts you are fine! If you end up with a csection they can shave you if needed |
Ugh I do like to shave and my OB comments on it every time that I shouldn't shave. It's kind of annoying to me. DH is the one who likes to shave and I like being bare too. |
| I've been an inconsistent waxer for years, but definitely did It toward the end of my first pregnancy and will again for this one, solely to have one less thing to worry about (and less to clean postpartum). Like pp, I couldn't see past my belly toward the end so just wanted as much gone as possible so I didn't have to worry about it |
For real! By the end your belly is so huge even if you wanted to trim things up, you can't see down there. And good luck trying to navigate around that giant beach ball. FYI, I tore and they didn't shave me. Nor did anyone say anything about my natural state. |
| I went natural by third tri and ended up with a c section. They didn't even shave, just trimmed very close to the skin a small section up top near my panty line. No problem with the incision and hair growing back. By the end of my pregnancy I really didn't get embarrassed by much and had assumed my doctors and midwives had seen a lot. Fully shaving or waxing isn't actually "hygienic" as it turns out, those hairs can be important and there for a reason. Honestly, I think the most embarrassing part was that I pooped while pushing for 2 hours before baby got stuck and I needed a c. But the pooping was what hit it home that my providers have seen it all and just kind of shrug this stuff off. |

You're going to poop on the table. They do not care what your pubic hair looks like.
You will get shaved for a C section though. Or at least, I did. |
| I seriously can't believe women are worried about having public hair. |
| I also do not shave or wax regularly. I had a c-section and they did not shave my hair. No one said anything either! |
|
I trim with a groomer and that's about it. Once I couldn't reach myself I just let it go natural and wild.
Try to remind yourself that OBGYNs look at vaginas ALL DAY LONG. Hair does not bother them. |
Yup. I pooped twice! Only knew because I could smell it and the nurse did some furious whisking away of the paper under me. OH WELL. |
I somehow managed to not poop on the table but DD passed quite a lot of meconium in utero so meconium was coming out with every contraction. Meaning I pretty much pooped out of my vagina with every contraction. So yeah, pubic hair was not on the list of things I cared about in that moment. I will say, I wish I'd gotten a wax down there sometime in my last month of pregnancy because my hedge was quite overgrown by that point. It didn't matter one bit during labor but trying to clean up all the lochia in the weeks after I gave birth with all the hair down there was rough, especially with all the stitches. |
I have never thought of meconium this way, bravo PP, for the visual imagery! My midwife told me that pooping is a good thing because you use the same muscles to squeeze out a poop and a baby, so it lets them know you're pushing correctly. I definitely pooped, but didn't care a bit by that point. |
This isn't quite correct. The muscles are similar, but it's a completely different muscle. I remember focusing on the pushing muscle when I was delivering and it wasn't the same as poop. I took Colace every day for 3 days before delivery hoping that it would spur contractions (nope!) but it did have the bonus of not having anything in my body to poop out. I basically spent 3 days on the toilet before my induction thanks to colace. |
I mean castor oil! Colace is nice, castor oil isn't. |
They're worried about public pubic hair.
